A Diverse Cohort Solving Real-World Industry Challenges

PISA Cohort 5 brought together 20 startups across seven industry verticals, including AI and automation, agritech, sustainability, health and biotech, marketplaces, fintech and SaaS, and tourism.

The cohort reflected the diversity and strength of Malaysia’s growing startup ecosystem, with founders developing innovative solutions aimed at addressing real-world challenges while creating meaningful economic and social impact.

Through structured modules and mentoring, founders developed stronger products, financial models, market strategies and investor-facing pitches before progressing to Demo Day.

The programme provided participants with opportunities to learn from experienced mentors, engage with industry experts, and refine their business strategies in preparation for future growth and investment opportunities.

A key highlight of the cohort was Demo Day, where startups showcased their progress, business potential, and growth plans before an audience of investors, ecosystem partners, and industry stakeholders.

OroSYN emerged as the overall champion with its synbiotic-based oral care solution developed using probiotics and prebiotics derived from banana skin. Designed as a safe and natural approach to oral health, the solution supports beneficial oral bacteria while helping to prevent bad breath and oral infections.

First runner-up was awarded to ProLadang for its smart crop health monitoring and pest management solution, AgriAssist. By combining satellite imagery, artificial intelligence, and field data, the platform provides farmers with timely pest and disease alerts to support targeted action and protect crop yields.

TerraDeca secured second runner-up with Mr MoleC, a natural plant-based bio-repellent developed to protect crops from pests. The solution offers farmers an affordable and eco-friendly alternative to chemical pesticides while supporting safer and more sustainable farming practices.

Beyond recognising startup achievements, PISA Cohort 5 highlighted the growing entrepreneurial talent and innovation emerging from across the ecosystem. The participating startups demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to solving industry challenges.

As the programme concluded, founders left with stronger business foundations, valuable industry connections, and greater confidence to pursue the next stage of growth.

Their journey reflects PISA’s continued commitment to empowering entrepreneurs, accelerating innovation, and fostering a thriving startup ecosystem for the future.
